Altitude Quest Treks has been running small-group and private treks across Nepal since 2011, guided entirely by our own Kathmandu-based team — not subcontracted to whichever local operator happens to be free that week.
That distinction matters more than it sounds. Guides who work for us year-round, on the same routes, build the kind of judgment that only comes from walking a trail a hundred times, in every season — not from a guidebook. It’s also why the same names keep showing up across our trips: Pemba on the Everest-region routes, Nima Doma in Tsum Valley, Dawa in Langtang, Sarita in the far west. They didn’t rotate in for a season; they’ve led these exact trails for years.
We keep groups small on purpose — most of our departures cap at 12 trekkers, and private/tailor-made trips are always an option. It costs us some scale. We think it’s the only honest way to run a trek that depends on a guide actually knowing every person’s pace by day two.
